| Teen Cranes Secure Strong Advantage with Victory in Harare |
Uganda’s U-17 women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, boosted their chances of progressing in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after defeating Zimbabwe 2-0 away in Harare.
Playing the first leg at Ngoni Stadium, Uganda controlled much of the game, showing confidence and composure right from kickoff. Their dominance paid off in the first half when Immaculate Acen broke through the Zimbabwean defense and calmly found the back of the net to give Uganda the lead.
Not long after, Lydia Namaseruka extended the advantage with a well-taken goal, putting the Teen Cranes firmly in command before the break.
Zimbabwe attempted to fight back, but Uganda’s defense remained solid throughout the match. Goalkeeper Mayimuna Namuwaya also played a key role, making important saves to ensure her side kept a clean sheet.
In the second half, Uganda maintained discipline and controlled the tempo, limiting Zimbabwe’s attacking chances while protecting their lead.
The 2-0 result gives the Teen Cranes a significant edge heading into the second leg, which will be played on April 18, 2026, at FUFA Stadium in Kadiba. The winner on aggregate will advance to face either Namibia or Kenya in the next round.
